Ladies, a poll: Is it a game that you play to try to get your man to buy you a diamond ring?

I was really close to a certain woman about a year ago. I was so close to her I bought her a $1500 diamond ring the one she wanted. I didn't give it to her right away; She received the ring 2 months later. After she had the ring her whole attitude changed. She didn't want to share the bed anymore, she nitpicked about small trifle things, and just had a generally poor attitude. I am wondering if this kind of behavior is the female version of a man trying to get a woman into bed to have sex. Is "gold digging" a sport among women? Do women brag about how they got a poor ol sap to buy them an expensive ring?
